The ease and convenience of MyChart takes the guesswork out of managing your family’s health care. MyChart reduces wait times for test results, connects families with providers 24/7, and enables online appointment scheduling, virtual visits and much more.

But with new upgrades and features becoming available multiple times a year, you may be unaware of the latest functionality MyChart has to offer.

Next time you log in, take advantage of these great features:

1. Complete primary care E-visits.

Patients can now complete E-visits with a pediatrician to resolve health problems through MyChart and MyChart Mobile. Think of E-visits as an online digital appointment — no need to come to the office. Instead, you can securely email your child’s care team and they’ll respond with treatment recommendations, typically within 24 hours. Your provider can write a prescription or recommend an in-person office follow-up.

You don’t have to travel to receive care, or miss work and school for set appointment times. You can respond to provider messages on your own schedule.

E-visits are billable through insurance, just like an office visit, and should only be used for these 4 non-urgent medical conditions:

  • Cough and cold
  • Insect bites, lice or pinworms
  • Rash
  • Red eyes or pink eye

Note: E-visits are not direct messages with an immediate response and are available at all primary care and School Health locations.

How to complete an E-visit:

  • Go to mychart.akronchildrens.org and log in.
  • Then, select the patient’s name in the upper right-hand corner.
  • In your child’s main hamburger menu, select E-visit under “Find Care.”
  • Select your reason for the visit and preferred provider. Hit, “confirm and proceed” to start an E-visit.
  • Complete your eCheck-In information to confirm your child’s medical record is up to date.
  • Then, fill out your E-visit information and questionnaire. You also can upload a picture (i.e., rash, insect bite), if necessary.
  • Review your responses and click “submit.”

You’ll get a MyChart notification once the provider emails you back with treatment recommendations within 1 to 3 days.

Instead of pulling your child’s health information from several different areas, you can now reference and print a School Health Summary in MyChart that most schools and daycares require annually.

2. Download your child’s School Health Summary.

New this spring to MyChart is the School Health Summary, where you can now review and download a health report that reflects your child’s up-to-date picture of health. It includes key health details, such as demographic information, allergies, current medications and immunizations, and any health issues.

Instead of having to pull health information from several different areas, you can reference and print out this comprehensive health summary that most schools and daycares require annually. It makes it easy to fill out school, camp and sports-related medical forms.

Plus, if a provider’s signature is required, you can message your provider in MyChart to print and sign the School Health Summary, and then fax it to the appropriate person.

To access your child’s School Health Summary, log into MyChart and select the appropriate patient. In the child’s hamburger menu, click “Sharing Hub” under Sharing. Then, click on “Download School Health Summary” at the bottom of the Sharing Hub page.

3. Conveniently pay bills online with Express Bill Pay.

Express Bill Pay makes it easier than ever to pay your bills, so you can focus on your child’s health, and not on paperwork.

You can pay your child’s medical bills online through MyChart or as a guest if you don’t have an account. To access Express Bill Pay, simply navigate to MyChart’s login page on your computer or the app, and click “Express Bill Pay.” You’ll need the guarantor ID or the specific visit account number to get started, and then follow the prompts to make a payment.

If you do have a MyChart account, you (the guarantor, the person who pays the bills) have these benefits at your fingertips:

  • The ability to set up payment plans or recurring payments
  • Paperless billing statements
  • Real-time account balances
  • Detailed payment receipts
