Found on CL. No affiliation with the seller. Miles are too high for collector status but it appears to be well-maintained and in good shape!

Even though they came from the factory with black tops, I prefer the look of a tan top on a BRG. Still, even with a right/wrong color new cloth top, I have to give this owner credit. More important than the 50k is the fact that the TB/WP and plugs/wires have already been done. That speaks loudly about the seller's care. As do the newish tires, the new cloth top and the cleanliness of the interior. With a car in this shape and for this price, I would expect the leather seats to be crack-free. If the leather seats are actually in as good shape as the rest of the car, I could see offering $5k for this.

Time was, I would require a HT before I would consider $5k or above. I guess I am getting soft.

And getting cheap in your old days! Nah ace, I'd pay face value on this one.

This car is priced RIGHT! No need to offend the seller. I mean sure I'd butter him, but I'll let him set the score! ;)

Even though they came from the factory with black tops, I prefer the look of a tan top on a BRG.My Canadian BRG came from the factory with a tan top and in my opinion it looks awful. I'll be replacing it with black when the time comes.

This car looks nice. Not a bad deal.

That's a very nice looking BRG. If it was about a 1000 miles closer, I'd seriously consider it. To me, that's a seller that has properly maintained the automobile and priced it very reasonably (actually, I think it's under priced). It will sell very quickly.

 The seller could easily ask $6500 for this car, but it's nice to hear what a lowballer would expect.

Agreed. I think $5600 is a grand cheap if the car is as good as it looks.

I'm a bit confused. I thought all BRGs came with a factory HT, yet the NA options (http://www.miata.net/faq/Miata90-97A3.pdf) sheet only shows the HT as an option. Am I wrong?

I have seen A LOT of BRG's w/o HT's, so I doubt that they all came with it. After all it added over $1000 to the purchase price.

Another (?) BRG was listed on the Columbia, MO, CL last week:

"91 BRG Miata, British racing green, tan leather, 48,000 miles. New Westco battery. Mobil 1 oil, fresh redline fluids. Radio updated, new Sony CD player, mp3 adapter, new Polk Momo door speakers, upgraded headrest speakers. New upgraded Koni Sport adjustable shocks with new covers, upgraded Flying Miata exhaust. Rev9 runabout chrome mirrors- have original, racing beat F/R sway bars, New Star spec high performance summer tires on 94 oem wheels, also have daisy's. . New shift boots. Chrome vent rings, Nardi shift knob, chrome gas cover- have original. Front OEM lip spoiler, Chrome body brace, underside brace. More! NO RUST!!! Excellent leather treated with leatherique. This was the first Miata special edition. Only flaws are very minor hood hail damage, can't be seen in sunlight, small paint chip."

They were asking $5900. I e-mailed, but haven't heard back.

I can't help but wonder if this is the same car, and someone bought it for the HT and other goodies.

I agree. This one will likely make someone a happy BRG owner. ;)

Now we ask "WHY??"

The factory Mazda paint wasn't good enough?? :)

Well, I said that before I knew it had been repainted.

I've seen lots of "sun damaged" BRG's...

According to the seller the car had oxidation and spots where it would polish out (with an orbital at a body shop) and then return in a short period of time? After going through this process several times with no long lasting cure he decided to have it painted.

Mine has the same issue. Looks great for a couple weeks... then they come back.
