The 25 best neighborhoods to see in Conway (2024)

The North Conway Grand Hotel is a luxurious resort in North Conway, New Hampshire, with indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, a cozy restaurant and bar, and easy access to ski facilities. It is part of the high-end Newport Hotel Group.

This is the second time we stayed at this hotel. It is clean with great decor. The hotel is set a bit from the road so it is quiet yet within walking distance to the great shops and restaurants. The staff is very helpful. We had a slow draining tub and it was fixed by the time we got back from dinner. We sat by the outdoor pool which was great. There are plenty of lounge chairs and tables. The outdoor hottub was great too!

Anyone who is posting bad reviews for this place are super lame! My fiance and I stayed here one night on a spontaneous ski getaway and we absolutely loved it. First, it was less than $100. Absolute steal. Second, our room was very spacious and cozy (we had a king room with a pull out couch bed) and I slept like a baby. The pool/hot tub were PHENOMENAL. We spent time in both the indoor and outdoor hot tub but you can never go wrong with sitting in an awesome hot tub outside in January while it's snowing. We drank some drinks in the hot tub too (no glass) and they were totally fine with. The service was great and overall loved our stay. It's of course a bit dated and we had to pay for breakfast but again - less than $100 for the night! Absolute steal, we loved it.

We have stayed here many times over the years and generally a good hotel. Positives include excellent location, nice pool and the facility is clean. My gripe is the bar. They have reduced its size, last call at 830! And only beer and wine. After a long day on the slopes/shopping/sightseeing, it’d be nice to relax and have a couple without worrying about driving. I can’t understand why they took a cool hotel bar and turned it into what it is now. All in all, a good place to stay in N Conway and the price this last week (Mar 1-4) was very reasonable

Haven't even checked out yet but need to write this for those older couples looking for a nice getaway. Go somewhere else. From the photos and some recommendations it looks nice. We were attracted to the indoor and outdoor pool options in case of lousy weather. The hotel is geared towards families with kids who will spend all day running through the hotel, turning the hot tubs into bath time with more kids then adults in them. That's all fine for Families. Just don't come here expecting to relax with peace and quiet. We have been to other hotels in North Conway way more geared for an older couple. Our fault for choosing this place. Won't be back, even the price was too high.

Easter at the Grand Hotel 🐰 This place deserves the 5 stars. This is a 100% unbiased review. Some of the reviews I read were just terrible. I couldnt understand why? We absolutely loved our stay. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The location is in the center of shopping and great places to eat. The room was clean and very welcoming. They offer so much for everyone. On-site spa with amazing massages. Movie theater for kids. Rooms have DVD players, and they have an extensive library of movies to pick from. Plus much much more. If you are looking for a place in North Conway that has a little of everything then the Grand Hotel is where you need to be. We will be back! THANK YOU GRAND HOTEL 🩷🩷🩷

Hubby & I stayed for 2 night for our Anniversary. Hotel is Beautiful! Room was super clean & comfy. Staff was friendly & helpful. Convenient location. Only downfall was the continental breakfast for $10.95 per person. It lacked in choices. Only hot item was make your own waffles. Should have been included with the room. We will be back!!

Our short meaningful stay on the first day of the year was great ! We stayed overnight here as a family and service was great. My son loved the pool and we loved the jacuzzi as well both for the indoor and outdoor pools. Not to mention that there’s an arcade , a mini cinema area where you can watch movies and also beside the hotel is an outlet and the lobby is simply welcoming . My only comment is that maybe due to holiday , restaurant closed early enough for dinner but overall , it was worth the stay.

The hotel was nice. We had a wheelchair accessible room which was perfect with a roll in shower. Down fall is all of the handicapped rooms only have 1 bed. We were traveling with our son who is in a wheelchair so one of us has to sleep on the fold out couch, which was the most uncomfortable bed. The rooms were clean but in my opinion they should have been cleaner.

I stayed here for two nights with my mom. Upon checking in, they put a $250 hold on my card, as well as $50/night. This was surprising but I was told it would fall off at the end. One of the first things I noticed upon entering the hallways of the hotel is that it smells very musty, like old wet laundry. The rooms are quite dated and could use new rugs as they seem to hold a lot of odors. There is a shopping outlet directly next to the hotel. It was clear that the hotel is a family oriented place. We could hear some kids having meltdowns a few times through the wall, and a little girl actually wandered out of her parent’s sight at one point and knocked on our door very early in the morning, waking us up. We were able to find her dad down the hall. So, if kids aren’t your jam, you may be better staying somewhere else. When sleeping in the bed the first night, I broke out in a rash and was so itchy that I didn’t sleep at all. The sheets smelled strongly of bleach, so I assume I had an allergic reaction to the chemicals used to wash the sheets. My mom did not have a reaction, so it was not bedbugs. The second night I was able to sleep after taking some allergy meds, but just FYI if you have sensitive skin. The pillows were soft and lumpy, but the beds themselves were very comfortable. The bathroom had a bit of mold along the top of the shower where it met the wall, and the ceilings had yellow water stains. Also, when I was showering, brown water collected and dripped from the ceiling of the shower, and smelled of cigarettes. This indicated that at one point our room may have been a smoking room. There was no fan in the bathroom to help with steam. I was surprised when we had to pay $15/person for the self serve buffet continental breakfast. Usually it is free when you stay at a hotel. There was a nice view from the window in the back of the dining room. The coffee was watery, so we decided to go to Starbucks down the street. We opted to not eat breakfast at the hotel the second day. On Saturday, we had a spa appointment at 11am. We got a 60 min massage, a foot treatment, and a facial. The two women working were accommodating and so amazing. The 2 hours we spent getting the treatments done were so relaxing. They did a great job. The spa is by appointment only. It’s not really a spa per say, it’s more just one room with two beds. But still a great experience and a high quality massage. My back feels a lot better today! The hotel is close to many local attractions and nature. We went to Cathedral Ledge and Echo Lake. There is also a movie theater locally, where we caught a showing of Barbie. We did not eat at the restaurant at the hotel, but had incredible food and drinks at the Black Cap Grille right down the street. We did not have time to check out the pools, but there is great swimming at Echo Lake. The staff here were very friendly and answered all our questions. Overall, I may come here again if I had children and if it were a little more cost effective. For how dated the hotel is and the updates it needs, I believe it is too pricey.

Rooms are dated, I would know. We have seen three due to the fact that we have been moved twice in a 2 night stay. All 3 rooms have bathrooms that will not drain water from tub or sinks $400/night I'd like not to stand in my own dirty bath water in a dated tub. Definitely not worth the money when compared to other "grand" hotels in the area. I did receive a rebate of $50, but seriously.Front desk and restaurant staff were great and really helpful!

Have been coming here since at least 2007. Unfortunately this place has gone downhill. We didn't have working AC and had to call the front desk multiple times. It took them almost 2 hours to respond and the AC still isn't 100 percent as the room gets stifling hot. Also, they only have 15 channels, IF THAT. And continental breakfast is 11 dollars a person and is only muffins, pastries, etc. No hot foods. For the price of a room, I'd stay elsewhere. This will be my last visit.

Always enjoy my time here! The relaxed atmosphere, fantastic music, top-notch service throughout the hotel, and the inviting rooms make it hard to leave. Don't even get me started on the incredible hot tubs, pools, and the in-house movie theater with two showtimes every night. Plus, a vast collection of over 300 DVDs that you can rent for your room for free. If you haven't experienced it yet, it's a must-visit – nothing else quite compares. Till next time

We made no special demands or special requests. We were simply checking in. Stephanie, who checked us in, never smiled. She was unpleasant. She just went through the motions. We drove 3+ hours to get to the hotel and we spent $400+. Any guest deserves better. I know the rooms are nice and clean and the location is good, but I would rather have checked in electronically had that been an option. We didn't even feel comfortable to ask a question. This hotel used to offer a continental breakfast. When we checked out, Stephanie, unfortunately, was the one we had to deal with. No change in her demeanor or attitude. This is our only interaction with a hotel employee, and Stephanie failed miserable. It was a terrible experience.

This was a premiere hotel 15 years ago. Sadly there are many better options in the area for the price. All of the employees seem very friendly and willing to help. The hotel is very worn and there are instances around every corner of something needing repair. It is generally clean though. The parking lot is a hazard in itself and looks abandon. Our room was a suite that could sleep 10 but it has one bathroom that is smaller than a modern standard hotel bathroom. The shower is very tight and could use a simple curved curtain-rod like others have done. The room was huge but there was a lot of wasted space and a second bathroom would have been a key investment. The restaurant has been closed and that was an inconvenience not knowing when we booked. The mall complex that the hotel resides in is nice but also well worn. Unfortunately this hotel is doomed if it cannot modernize and repair itself quickly! There is a lot to do in the area and many other hotels and resorts now.

This hotel sits a good distance back from the main road, so traffic noise is minimal. The Grand is behind a massive outlet shopping area called Settlers Green. Very appealing "amenity".There is an indoor and outdoor heated pool, and hot tub. Gym and arcade room. The breakfast is not included, but well worth the added $15.00. They offer cereals, fruits, nuts, donuts, pastries, toast, eggs, breakfast meats, and a make your own waffle station.Staff are friendly and attentive. The beds are very comfortable.I didn't give it a 5star because it is overall outdated. The wallpaper, the ceiling(popcorn) the carpeting and beding. All need updating. A REFRESH with paint and bedding and decor would bring this Grand hotel into the 21st century! We had to keep the window open because the heat couldn't turn off even in the middle of winter! The room jacuzzi jets need to be stronger. Our stay was very pleasant non the less but we hope you are on the REFRESH list soon with all the new hotel choices up here.

Came here for my fiancés 22nd birthday! Was amazing! Beautiful place ! We came for the pools especially and it was amazing except the two days we stayed here the outside pool was filthy ! Both days! They never cleaned it with all the bugs and sand and dirt was hard to enjoy due to it was my baby girls first time swimming so I wanted the best for her! Everything was amazing tho! Best hotel yet! We will be back!

Traveled 3 and a half hours from Massachusetts to stay the night in North Conway, we came to check in at the end of our day to find out they gave our room to someone else and had no other rooms for us. My aunt had called the day before to make sure our reservations were still good for that night, since every other hotel was booked, and they said yes. The lobby looked beautiful, too bad we had to go home.

Me and my husband stayed here and there were multiple issues with our room.1. An excessive AC noise kept my husband up all night because it was shaking the floor and unit & excessively loud metal noise, someone came to fix it, it was better but still loud and frustrating.2.The SPA tub we paid extra for, the hot water handle was broken and just sitting on top of the control, as well as the tub even with the drain up still leaked water out and wouldn't stay filled, the very reason we picked this room and couldn't even enjoy bathing in the tub together.3. The bathroom shower/tub would NOT drain, so taking a shower standing in dirty water.. not pleasant4. The bathroom sink did not drain, the stopper was stuck closed. again very frustrating.I bought up all these issues and was only offered an apology. We paid $827.00 for this room, which is extremely overpriced for all these issues , including the fact that we couldn't use the spa tub!!!We ended up being refunded half our money, but i would stay clear of this hotel, there is nothing "grand" about it.

We had a great experience! Check in was smooth with friendly staff. I believe her name was Katherine, was extremely kind and welcoming. We loved the grounds with both indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs open even in the cooler months. There was also a playground, arcade room and movie room. We also loved the outdoor fire pit with hot cider from the lobby. The room was very spacious with a high ceiling. Besides the bed and bathroom, it included a sofa, table and chairs, fridge, freezer, microwave and jacuzzi. All great additions! There was a piece of paper in the room with all info we could need. I love how informative it was. Not many channels on the TV which was not a smart TV but it was a good size with a dvd player and plenty of free movie rentals to choose from downstairs, including Holiday movies! We enjoyed having a movie night in our jacuzzi.Great location with close parking. Also walking distance to nearby restaurants and outlets which was a plus!We usually stay at cabins in different areas when we go to NH so this was definitely different but a great experience nonetheless. We will definitely return. Thank you!

Whole hotel was overrun with kids soaking the floor from the front of the hotel straight through to the elevators. Hotel did not make everyone adhere to pool policy and my partner and I were unable to utilize the pool for adult swim which was the whole reason we chose this particular hotel. Bathroom was small and soaps were sub par. All in all was not worth the money we spent. I have spent half the money and had a better stay elsewhere. Very disappointed. Will not be coming back.

BEWARE — pool is very unsanitary. Health inspector should be notified. I stayed at this property previously and can’t believe how much the hotel has gone downhill. The main appeal is that it was great for kids with the heated indoor/outdoor pool. In years past, it was so clean and fun. During February vacation week, I was SHOCKED by how dirty the pool was (opaque green, over capacity, bio-film in hot tub, lots of floating debris, band aids galore on pool deck, no towels, smelled like urine…you get the point). Drunk parents partying in hallway until 1pm and unsupervised children running amok. I have little kids and couldn’t believe how parents let their children go wild here — throwing footballs in the pool almost hitting adults in the head in the jacuzzi several times. Families taking over seating areas in the lobby like it was a picnic area with pizza boxes and having a full blown meal at reception, very odd. Otherwise, the location is good. Rooms are dated, but clean. I did enjoy the gym area which was clean and had good equipment. Cleaning Staff and front desk folks were very friendly. I felt we really overpaid, but it was during vacation week so they obviously jack up the price. Won’t be returning next year.

The North Conway Grand Hotel is in a great location and could be great with a little more effort from the staff and management. The rooms are nice however I would strongly recommend asking for a room away from the elevator as the dinging will wake you throughout the night. The selling point for me and many others that had the same complaints was that they advertises quiet time after 10 and adult only pool access as well as a late night movie that requires kids to be with an adult since the movie is PG13. Do not expect any of this. It’s a free for all making it very difficult to get any adult time or for your older kids to enjoy a movie. What they will do is comp your breakfast and tell you that there is nothing they can do as the hotel is booked. The outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi are very nice.

I was a little disappointed upon arrival. The photos are much more “grand” than they appear to the naked eye. Our room on the 3rd floor had a view of the skating rink, even with all the lights turned on it was still very dark inside, the toilet is NOT ADA, not a deal breaker for us, just not used to public places with toilets that low, bathroom is very small, I wanted to move the trash can to the other side of the TV as it made no sense where it was, empty candy wrappers in the fold down couch bed, it did not appear to have been made since the previous tenants, we did not use it, the alarm clock went off in the middle of the night, NOT COOL, we should have checked, teenager said bed was too hard, husband and I both slept better than we expected to in the firmer mattresses. The pool was crowded Saturday night, the towels were nice and warm and the sauna was lovely but the women’s shower was out of order, the outdoor pool and hot tub also too crowded and there were young unsupervised children in the small fitness room. The breakfast buffet, AWFUL, gross coffee, ready cooked floppy overly salty bacon, rubbery eggs, fruit flavorless, long line for waffle maker, pancake syrup… no real syrup, we did enjoy the Cheerios and apple juices. The 2 art displays in the lobby were fascinating, outdated carpets in dark halls, nice light fixtures in the lobby. Check in was easy and efficient, the line moved quickly, staff friendly and when we needed extra shampoos they were accommodating. For the price, I think next time we will likely stay somewhere else, it was mostly underwhelming. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pretty nice place with the exception of a few minor complaints. Nothing that would be a dealbreaker for staying there. The hotel was a great value for what we needed. Beds and pillows were comfortable. The rooms could use a little updating. There were several brown water stains on our ceiling, but nothing that affected our stay or comfort. The staff, in general, were nice and helpful, especially the front desk staff. The restaurant left a little to be desired. Our server was less than attentive. The food was ok, although we never ate breakfast at the hotel. We ate dinner once and that was enough to know we preferred eating out for our meals. The location was great. It was very close to shopping and restaurants. We would stay again.

Cons- incredibly rude and aggressive front desk staff- pool / amenities extremely dirty- walk ways are not maintained making it extremely hard for disable people to get around. The entrance is very dangerous for people in wheelchairs also.- Tavern - out of stock of most of their food. The staff were very pushy trying to get us out. My daughter's plate was taken away without the waitress asking with most of her food left, my daughter started to cry and the waitress didn't say a word just walked away with her food.- basic buffet continental adults are $15 each - breakfast should not be charged herepros- close to shopsThis hotel honestly wasn't the worst and I feel some families could have a great time at this hotel. My experience happened to be bad and just got worse by the treatment of staff.Mostly this hotel is just outdated and staff don't seem to care.

We will definitely be returning here every time we go up to North Conway!
